Rapid Response Units
In an effort to ensure the availability of a paramedic transport, we
have pioneered a fleet of non-transporting rapid response
units staffed with one seasoned paramedic (no less than 3 years
proven street experience), these units are available to respond to
hospital based interfacility requests as well as nursing home
emergencies. They operate along with a BLS or ALS transporting
ambulance, utilizing three person crews for patient transports if
deemed by the senior staff on scene.
Operating an ALS system at this level insures that we always have an ALS
unit available rather than staffing paramedics in transporting ambulances
that would at times be performing routine BLS or dialysis transports.
Our ALS rapid response units are equipped with the most up to date ALS
medical equipment and technology including; the new ZOLL E-Series
Cardiac Monitors with Capnography; non-invasive blood pressure
monitoring; pulse oximetry and 12 lead EKG capabilities. These cardiac
monitors are in conformance to the new American Heart Association
guidelines. In addition for hospital interfacility transports; we have
equipped each unit with the newest Para-Pac Autovent and 3 Chamber
Alaris IV Pumps.
In addition, our ALS rapid response Field Supervisors are equipped with the
ZOLL Auto Pulse CPR Compression Devices.
ALS Transporting Units
In addition to our ALS Rapid Response Units, we staff certain
ambulances with 2-person paramedic crews. These ambulances
are operated from our Woburn and Needham base locations and
can be repositioned if needed to our Concord Office. These ALS
units are also equipped with the same equipment and supplies as
detailed above in the ALS Rapid Response Units section. |
